Charity collection in aid of the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial

The Ancre Somme Association Charity extends its gratitude to all who contributed to the £274.18 raised in aid of the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial before today's match between Glenavon FC and Dungannon Swifts FC.

Your contribution will enable the charity to construct a memorial honouring all animals that served in military conflicts from the First World War to the present.

We express our sincere appreciation to Glenavon Football Club for authorising our collection at today's match. We extend specific thanks to Eddie Drury MBE, Commercial Director & Community Liaison Officer, Glenavon Football Club.

We would also like to to thank Spirit of 2014 Glenavon Supporters Club and The BlueZone for their generous donations towards the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial.

Finally, thanks also to Cllr Mark Baxter and Cllr Peter Haire for their continued support and for stepping in at short notice to help today.
