The Ancre Somme Association Charity are delighted to announce that the Reverend Derek Kerr has agreed to become Honorary Padre of the Charity.

Rev Kerr, who has recently been appointed as Rector of Tynan Aghavilly & Middletown, said: "I have always had a keen interest in all things to do with the Battle of the Somme. I was honoured to give the sermon this year at the Ulster Memorial Tower on the 1st July. I look forward to working with the members of the Ancre Somme Association Charity.”

Reverend Kerr, former Rector of Drummaul, Duneane and Ballyscullion, is well known for being a Royal Superfan. Rev Kerr has been known to give talks on the royal memorabilia he has accumulated over the years. He has also met several members of the Royal family. He also went over to London for the late Queen’s platinum jubilee and her funeral as well as the Coronation of King Charles III.

Mark Jameson, Chairman of the Ancre Somme Association Charity, said: “We are delighted that the Reverend Kerr accepted our invitation to become the Honorary Padre of the charity. As the charity grows, we need a strong team in place. We firmly believe that Reverend Kerr will be an important part in the growth of the charity.”

Reverend Kerr was presented with his association tie and pin badge by the charities Honorary President, David Martin, and welcomed by two of the charities UK Ambassadors, Carla Lockhart MP and Sqn Ldr Graham Dodds MBE DL.
